  • The House of… Lego

If you liked the last Lego accomplishment, you’ll dig this church someone built! (Thanks Christie!)

Man, is this going to piss off worthwhile / intrinsic value, achievement oriented reader: akindofblue (see comment page of previous entry)  Hee, hee.

    THE STATS:

How long to build it? It was about 1 1/2 years of planning, building and photographing.

How many pieces of LEGO to build it?   More than 75,000

    How big is it?   About 7 feet x 5 1/2 feet x 2 1/2 feet

How many LEGO people does it seat? 1,372

    How many windows?   3,976

It features a balcony, a Narthex, stairs to the balcony, restrooms, coat rooms, several mosaics, a nave, a baptistery, an altar, a crucifix, a pulpit and an elaborate pipe organ.

Just some wicked, wicked building skills.  Although working to build Jesus nailed to a cross must’ve been a bit strange.

Man, first off:  The little LEGO homes I use to build were multi-colored because I never had more than a dozen of each colored brick.

And secondly: Whatever happened to starting off with that really flat green piece (which of course, served as the “grass“)?

Someone has to put this church to use in a stop-animation movie. It’s a ready-made set… stand the priest in the center, line the congregation in the center to receive communion, etc.

  • that shit is crazyyyyy

  • when i was lil, i ate a lego once

  • I once made a Lego roller coaster and a sky drop, a la Knott’s Berry Farm…Sigh…those were my more creative days.

  • That. Is. Amazing.

  • AhAHHAH…..I remember I used to use the Green Really Flat piece to start my home building.  It was all kinds of multi-colored w/ the blue roof pieces.

  • wow … kinda scary

  • haha niiiiice.

  • omfg– that’s insane. i prolly don’t have the patience to put together something like that*

  • that’s so crazy. I can’t even make that little house that you put a picutre of on this entry. I am not worthy!!

  • wow it looks really beautiful!

  • wow. that’s awesome. :)

  • i like!
    i <3 lego :D

  • That’s incredible. o__o

  • you need to check out the mall of america out in minnesota if you think that’s crazy… they got their own little “lego land”, it’s great.

but that church def. is something… and to have all those pieces and plan that out… CrAzY

  • That’s jus’ insane… wish I had time to do stuff like that.

  • awesome, ain’t it??

  • how about a lego gallery made out of legos – the exhibit will be photos all of the lego structures that ppl have made. hey, are the church members all asian? they all seem to have yellow skin.

  • Actually, I think this one is pretty cool.  The coolest lego project I ever did was an attempt to make a replica of the bridge of the starship Enterprise for my action figures.

  • that’s pretty tight. i think we finally may have found something to de-throne the escher’s “ascending and descending staircase” in Legos”

  • wow, i think that i’ve been to that church…ahahah

  • OMG WHOA !!

  • Wow, you even converted the lone skeptic with this lego church! It seems everyone has secret lego stories. The detail is very impressive — the organ pipes, the tiles on the floor, the hanging chandeliers… and restrooms?! (laugh)  Incidentally, I did enjoy the green grass base. It made the lego structures so portable (and environmentally sound too). Anyone been to legoland? I hear it’s impressive as well. http://www.lego.com/legoland/

  • that’s crazy….someone must have had lots and lots and lots of time on their hands….

btw…your baby girl is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stinkin ADORABLE!!!!!!! Of course you already knew that.

  • I can’t believe someone had that much spare time… I mean, it’s beautiful and all, but they spent a year and a half of their life on legos?

Making those multicolor houses with the grass on the bottom was the shit.  ^-^

  • Omg thats so cool!!!

  • omg that thing is NUTS!

  • Wow….. just…… wow…..

  • LOL…you are obsessed. Though I must admit, I did have an addiction to LEGOS when I was a kid. I totally can relate to the green floor-level pieces. I usually made motor homes out of legos cuz
    1) I used to want to live in one
    2) they are SWEET
    3) I didn’t have enough pieces for a ‘real house.’

  • That’s pretty crazy. People make all kinds of things from legos – star destroyers, planes, guns, swords, unusuable soccer balls . . . I wonder if, in another 100 years, kids will still be playing with them.

  • So this is what you do when you are not making movies huh

  • hey Parry, I support you and all and BLT and that, but Justin Lin is remaking one of the greatest films (Asian or otherwise) in the past decade (OLDBOY).  Besides the fact he accepted to take part in Hollywood’s pillaging trend of remaking every Asian film with a White cast, Justin could at least have the decency to AT LEAST CHANGE THE FRIGGIN TITLE so when I go “Yeah, there’s this great film called Oldboy, ppl aren’t gonna mistake it for the FRIGGIN REMAKE!

That’s near worse than being a sellout.  And to think I supported BLT.

Don’t have his email addy so you just pass on the word.

  • wow, that’s really amazing.  for someone to plan out all that and for it taking a year, you have to think if they live vicariously through legos.

  • Justin Lin needs to at least change the title if he is remaking OLDBOY for the hollywood drones.  If he dont, he is a sell-out hack.

  • Hey Parry,

I know you gonna go delete these posts anyway, so why dont you just gimme Justin Lin’s email where I can reach him.  Or his screenwriters.

    K?

Say a Yes or No, and I’ll put my email up for you to send it.

  • WHY YOU BEING A BITCH, PARRY?

JUST GIMME DA FUCKAZ’ EMAILS, PUNK.

“BLT” SUCKED TACO BELL SHIT AND YOU CANT ACT FOOL.

    YOU SUPPORTIN A SELLOUT.

    CANT’ACTIN LIL PUNK

AND JUSTIN LIN SAID HE THINKS YOU LOOK LIKE A FAG

  • Oops, sorry bout that.

Thought you deleted those previous posts.

Heheh… BOUT THE ABOVE, YO:  “Just kidding!”

You know I’s just kidding man.  Thanks for being such a good sport, yo.

But seriously… if ya dont wanna gimme they emails, just pass them along the word to change their remake’s title.
