  • Home Sweet Home II

When I purchased my home last year, I posted a dream list of all the stuff I wanted to fill it with.  And #7 on the list was some sort of secret passageway(s).

Having now moved in, I started doing research for fun a few weeks ago during my down time in Louisiana.  Check out the cool niche this site has: http://www.hiddenpassageway.com/ (click on “Videos” — then click on “Niche“)

    Now how cool is that?

I don’t think I’d put guns in there but rather merge it with item #1 on the list: by placing The William Shakespeare bust in there whose head swings open to reveal the button that slides the bookcase back, thus revealing the batpoles to slide down into my garage.

A hidden passageway for the hidden passageway!

While you’re in the “Video” link on the site, be sure to also check out the “Animation” section – especially #2 (pool table) and #4 (armchair).

Then sitting on the plane to Shreveport, lo and behold, what do I read in the Skymall

Yes, that’s right.  One of the items in section #3!  The Rocketeer helmet.

Although I think the signs are abundantly clear, I’m still having trouble convincing the wife on any of the items.  But then again, if I get that underground pool table thing done (seen in Animation #2), she won’t even know there’s one in the house.  And if she ever did find out, I could escape her wrath via the armchair hatch (seen in Animation #4) Hmmm…

And while we’re walking the line of outrageousness, I might as well just go all the way.

So, new additions to the list include: An airplane hangar to house a life-sized, working Viper from “Battlestar Galactica” and snowspeeder from “The Empire Stikes Back“.

My living room would be re-modeled into a replica of the Millennium Falcon’s sitting area leading to the Cockpit (which would be the TV room).

Then I’d have my landscapers re-create Rivendell’s Fellowship Courtyard (from “The Lord of the Rings“) in my backyard – with the circle of chairs around a BBQ/Firepit.  Meanwhile a working model of Twiki from “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” (with Dr. Theopolis strapped onto his chest [as pictured]) would be entertaining my guests and taking drink orders.

  • To Roger_phan:

Ah, it’s stuff like this that makes being under the public microscope so worth it.

First off, judging by how passionate your rants are – there’s really nothing I’m going to be able to say that will sway how strongly you feel against the current “non-existent” Asian American movement of actors/directors.  All I can do is give you some facts to recalibrate some of the opinions you’ve formulated:

    - Justin wanted to do the remake of “Oldboy” so Universal bought him the rights to the film.  Martin Scorsese also saw the film, loved it and when he found out Universal had the rights — he asked to direct the film.  They turned him down because they already had Justin.  I think that’s a pretty big step in the right direction having a studio turn down Marty for Justin.  Justin’s a very smart guy and will do right by “Oldboy”.  I mean, the guy turned down the chance to direct “X-Men 3″ because he knew he was in a losing battle after FOX kicked Bryan Singer off the lot for doing “Superman Returns” for Warner Bros.  And true to fashion, after a month on X3, director Matthew Vaughn (“Layercake”) quit after a month with dealing with FOX.  So, as I said before, Justin is a smart and extremely loyal guy.  He always uses the same people that got him where he is today and with those sensibilities, I know he’ll do his best to do right by the film.

-Any movie that comes out has to have obtained the rights to the music – which we did.  The artists can’t sue to something they’ve agreed to.

    - “BLT” was not written by hispanic guys.  Justin is Taiwanese, Ernesto is Filipino and although Fabian isn’t Asian, the dude’s basically one of those honorary Asians having gone to school with a predominatly Asian heavy population and surrounded by Asian friends/dynamics(he went through elementary school with Justin) and then UCI – which if you’ve ever been on campus — basically all Asians.

    - And I didn’t unblock your other account because I didn’t want a direct link with your previous post exposed to my readers but knew you’d create another nice and safe anonymous account for yourself to comment (which you did).  And with the well written opinion you left, albeit inaccurate, I’ll leave it up for others to see.

And finally, all I can say is that we’re all just starting out.  There’s never going to be something for everyone.  We’re all doing our best and having a negative knee-jerk reaction to everything we’re ever going to do is just doing nobody any good.

You seem to have all the answers – what are you waiting for?  Implement them in the world.  Show us what you’ve got.  We’re all obviously inept in your eyes.

And while you do that, we’ll all keep chuggin’ along despite the one or two negative people with the loudest voices in the room try to overpower the thousands that understand that everything takes time (I’m talking like decades here) to make changes and are allowing us to find our way as a whole.
