This is an entry that I’ve been meaning to do for a while now.
This here’s a singer/songwriter that everyone should know about who I see around on the college tour circuit.
I first met Ken at a Visionshock Party a year ago and got hold of his CD. I’m usually not a big listener to unknown musical artists only because I find that either 1) Their recordings are very unpolished or 2) Being a mindless slave to the Top 40, I don’t vibe with music Rick Dees has not yet introduced. Hey, I’m just being honest. But as soon as I popped Ken’s CD in, and listened to his John Mayer/Jason Mraz/Rob Thomas-esque tunes, the two reasons above instantly faded away.
A year later, I find that his disc still finds a pretty decent rotation in my car’s 6-disc changer amongst the “Avenue Q” soundtrack.
Take a listen to “End Credits” http://www.kenoak.net/audio.html , close your eyes and I dare you to tell me his musical stylings don’t belong on the radio. Plus he’s a great guy to boot and deserves to blow up. And if you ever see me at any of his live concerts, you’ll definitely catch me secretly singing along in a dark, dark corner. Check out his site: www.kenoak.net .

does he sing in English? he’s hot though… i might check it out… i like the “unknown” artists….
He’s pretty cool! Definetely up there with Mayer and Mraz. Hmm…so would I ever see you at a Britney concert, secretly singing along in a “dark, dark corner” by any chance?
i absolutely LOVE ken oak
!!
i’m glad you do too
good stuff.
Dope stuff ! He should release a cd so I can put him on my playlist on my xanga !!
The newsmagazine I’m on staff for did an entire article on him. Everyone agreed that he had that voice that just melts you away. When I went to his show this past summer, he remembered me through my Xanga. Definitely a cool, down to earth type of guy. I even got most of my friends to listen to him (Asian and non-Asian alike).
Thank you for introducing him to us
dude. i saw him perform at this charity event at ucla this past summer. yes, he was good.
i remember when he played @Duke for CAIC and I felt SOOOOO bad because the Duke-UConn NCAA Semi-Final matchup was on and almost no one was there…. but he was so good and definitely deserved the audience.
and of course, the xanga.

You need to discover Indie music. Don’t listen to the “known” songs, they all sound the same.

Parry, that must be why you were at the Key Club the last time I saw you. You must have a man crush. I do too.
