WHO’S ON FIRST?
I’ve been getting a lot of people lately saying to me, “You look like that guy from (alt pop metal band) HOOBASTANK, (Doug Robb).”
To which I want to reply, “Yes. I am Mr. Stank himself”.
People used to also confuse me with actor, B.D. Wong so much that I had to start carrying a photo of him in my wallet; something I still do up until this very day.
So when people came up and asked, ” Aren’t you that guy on Law & Order: SVU?”
I could simply pull out B.D.’s photo from my wallet and say, “No, you’re thinking about this guy.”
So the question is: Should I switch out BD’s photo and replace it with a photo of Doug? Or should I simply just carry a photo of both of them?
But hopefully, in the future, days like this will be more typical :
Stranger: Hey, aren’t you that guy on…
Me: (pulling out photo of B.D.) You mean this guy?
Stranger: Umm, no…
Me: (pulling out photo of Doug Robb) Then maybe, this guy?
Stranger: Nope…
Me: (looking into my wallet) Sorry dude, I’m outta pictures. I’ve got no idea who you’re talking about.
Stranger: Weren’t you in that movie with a bunch of Asian guys?
Me: (pulling out my Driver’s License) This guy?
Stranger: YES!!

I’d recognize you in a hearbeat! Just like when I was watching tv and that AT&T (?) commercial came on. I said to my friend “Hey, isn’t he that guy from BLT?”

sorry to say this (if you’re proud of it), but you look nothing like doug robb. If i was white, I probably would confuse you with B.D. Wong though. Which might even put you in some awkward situations because of Wong’s sexual orientation. I’d say stick with the picture of Wong. You could get a shirt made that reads “I’m that asian guy from BLT”

i read an article on BD wong that was really touching… he’s gay and has a partner, and they decided that they wanted to have children, and they asked his partner’s sister if she would have kids for them and she said yes, so with BD’s sperm, they articficially inseminated his partners sister. she was supposed to have two boys, but one of them died at birth (so sad), however one of the boys survived and is doing pretty fine. touching story, yea? =p
anyway, you’re much better looking than the other guy ~_^ take care parry! ^_^

Dude, remember to take white people’s “identification” with a grain of salt. My family is white and even they sometimes have trouble distinguishing between Asians. I can’t count how many times white folk have said I look EXACTLY like someone else—only to meet that someone else and find that the only thing we have in common is being Asian (and sometimes not even that; once, the girl was Native American, whatthehell).

You should carry both pix…even better you should make a t-shirt, one pic should have under it or above, whatever floats your boat, that says, not this foo’ and the other pic, say not this foo either, and then have you’re own pic and say but i am this foo lol. thoughts you come up w/ when you don’t get enough sleep…

most people look like most other people.
I was once told I looked Cheyenne, Samoan, or Japanese…even though I’m not either of those. I am Oglala Sioux (Lakota). Mmyep.
that reminds me of the bit in Starsky and Hutch where they are interrogating the asian guy. And the asian guy remarks that “…. all you white guys look the same to me . .. ”
and Owen Wilson responds “that’s funny, because you all look the same to us!”
You don’t look like them. It’s just that they’re also Asian… alot ppl can not tell the difference between Asian for some odd reason!
